I received my copy today--it's excellent. Alexandrov is a new name to me, but I like his Sonata No.4 very much--a muscular piece in the vein of Rachmaninov and Scriabin. I do wish the disc contained more music--it could easily hold 20 more minutes. Tanyev's Prelude and Fugue would have been nice. The sonics are up to CM's usual high standards, and Victor Bunin plays wonderfully, especially for a 76 year old pianist!

Any relation to Stanislav Bunin, whom I much like?

Cheers,

Yes, for sure, but it's still impossible to order from Caro Mitis site, just like their other latest releases. Is it so difficult to update the site in due course?

We can offer our albums from the web only for Russian territory (naturally, you can purchase all the catalogue items in the "cyrillic zone" of www.caromitis.com), since our regional distirbution agreements do not allow to interfere the regional sales. Besides, shipment from Russia is a nightmare.

Thanks for the kind words. To say frankly, the concept of the album (ellaborated by Victor and myself) prevented us to include more Taneev's piano pieces - those two are clearly the best. We could easily add a couple of Alexandrov's piano works but then the album would have become unbalanced.
BTW, forget about Bunin's age - he performed all the programme by heart and with minimum number of takes - his pianitic form is amazing!

MDT still does not show the Beethoven sonatas Vol-6, Caro Mitis is availability is problematic.

Vahe

They should have it by now. There is a reason for the delay: SONY DADC made a bad mistake, printing the first release (portion) of vol. 6, so they needed to get all the disks back to the factory and re-release them.

Avatar Music is the best UK source via Amazon. They have the Prokofiev disc which I have ordered but not yet the Beethoven Sonatas Vol 6

I received the Prokofiev with the Taneyev/Alexandrov. I just quickly sampled it, but those tidbits sounded great!
