The snake oil salepeople saw you coming from a mile away, greedily rubbing their hands together.

But then the proprietors of all those multi million dollar recording studios share the guilt, as well. And do you really think they'd use an Oppo BDP~95 as a playback device to audition their masterworks?

Really, Snoop!

Get your head out of your A.............

SACD requires some obsession about equipment which in turn requires money. Enjoying good audio gear requires recordings where naturalness of the sounds can be heard = unprocessed acoustic instruments = classical mostly. Younger people usually are more pop oriented and have less money. Those who invest in good systems gravitate towards classical to enjoy their systems.

As a composer who often works with electronics, I can tell you that good audio gear makes electronic music sound better. I listen to classical too, but I find it puzzling that you would simply dismiss an entire field of music with one broad stroke.

I couldn't care less, your arrogance, what they use. It's what I use to get satisfactory music replication. I never went out of my way to somehow find the most expensive piece of equipment thinking that it would somehow match everything they have in recording a piece of music.

And I know they don't all use Ultrapoop on their discs.

Rammiepie recording studios playback the original DSD files on the DSD converters they were made. And audiophile labels listen on the best high-end playback equipment.

I agree completely with regards to upgraded interconnects and speaker cables. I can't believe the Flyingdutchman advocates using the disposable interconnects that come with components. Telarc uses MIT and the Monster Cable Pro "M" series high-end cables for it's microphones. Channel Classics uses Van den Hul.

I've only had one upgraded Power-cable (Xindak PC-03) and it was a gift from Xindak when they sent a generic European power-cable by mistake for my SCD-2. I used a cheap Beldon until the replacement arrived and the PC-03 definitely sounded better in all frequency ranges but especially the bass.

I've had very positive sonic results with the XLO/Reference Recordings demagnetizing tones, Shine-Ola disc cleaner, Sonic Circles, Audioprism's CD Stoplight and CD Blacklight.

Actually, most studios rarely ever listen to the actual SACD of their stuff. They'll listen (sometimes) to the test pressing for glitches, but mostly they've heard the edit master so many times, their sick of it. And they wish they had something as good as the Oppo 95. As far as power conditioners go, most studios do isolate their technical power, and some convert it to balanced ala Equitech. And as far as exotic cabling goes, most studios have miles of Mogami or Canare star quad at a buck a foot.

Blue Jeans Cable or BetterCables, is good enough. Any time cables cost as much or more than the player being used, it's asinine.

SnaggS, I live 35 miles from New York City and the power grids are overburdened........power cords DO make a major difference in this part of the world and I'm NOT referring to a slight increment in sound but a pretty decisive difference.

If making lowly lossy Dolby Digital sound high fidelity is not incremental, then I don't know what is!

Your jaw would drop at the before and after difference when I put these Shunyata Research power cords into my system.

If its true, youll also get brighter colours on your television. Give it a test. It is after all just a higher frequency.

I used to work for our local power company, theyre looking at all sorts of measures to deal with the peak in demand at 4pm. Funnily enough, not power cords.

I used one of those "generic" RCA cables with my Marantz SA112s (made by Better Cables) and they sounded like shit.......period..........muffled the sound terribly and had no bass whatsoever. Dream on, FD.

Unlike their much better performing HDMI cable, I would avoid their RCAs................

SnaggS, I dealt, initially, with my incoming power by having everything grounded and then started to have dedicated outlets installed into which I plugged power conditioners and then started to experiment with various power cords. When my main system is on, you can't hear a whisper.....dead silence.....so I must be doing something right.

I am sure some parts of the world........possibly remote areas.......don't have the problems of major cities which especially in the summer months draw huge amounts of current.........Even with our enormous taxes in the suburbs of New York City, our infrastructure is not what it used to be. Especially with all those cell phones and computers and other Apple devices constantly placing huge demands on the grid.

Cables don't have bass, speakers do.
