Do you think there will be full length operas in this collection?

The EMI Japan Furtwaengler releases include his Tristan, his studio Walkuere, and the entire live Ring that he taped for RAI.

Living is hoping!

Well, Paid by Japanese also means another thing: probably it will be all stereo. That is really said.

I really want to hear Muti's Aida in multi-channel SACD one day, though the DTS version (OOP now) is already quite good. There is really no room in Japanese taste for this, I guess.

Would you say the DTS version is worth picking up for like $30 or $40 for multi-channel playback?

I actually only paid $19.99 for my DTS copy.

Sure, I will pay for $30 or more for MCH SACD, dying for those... ;)

If SACD is only stereo, and I already own the RBCD, well, that is a difficult choice.

I just compared di Stefano from EMI, the RBCD from 1987, and the SACD just released now: they are very close call, almost the same in sound. For case like that, SACD is just something nice to have. But with MCH, SACD will be a must to own.

Have people listened much to the RBCD layers? Some of these are discs I don't have on my iPod either (I know, shame) - is it a new remastering?

Yes, the redbook layer was derived from the new hi-rez remastering, as usual with hybrid SACDs.

I'm familiar with custom for hybrid SACDs (which has been not followed in all cases). Have people actually compared it to previous remasterings?

Yes, I did, and I posted some listening impressions on this forum.

I've got the first-generation RBCD reissue of the Elgar concerto and Sea Pictures, which is sonically OK by me. I'm unfamiliar with Delius pieces which are joined at the spine with the Elgar recordings in the Signature version. Do the Delius works, aesthetically and sonically, justify grabbing the new SACD set?
