Too late, he died a year ago.

Lets just put Erica Gavin pics on the front of SACDs then :)

Two more possible captions for the Bartok sonatas cover… 1) 'De Selby wrote, 'stereo sonics: top sound'! Where's the rest of the review?'
2) 'England are going to regain the Ashes?' Actually, he looks a bit like Ricky Ponting after a run-out.

Thanks Claude, for those two covers. I wonder if the lady musician's dental hygienist and Michael Jackson's nose surgeon swapped clients, whether the world might be a better place…

I don't think artist photos should be glamorous, but did Philips have to capture Alfred Brendel after such a long night?
If you think that is bad, Philips used to display full size portraits of Brandel on their LP's, I had to stop buying Brandel LP's because of the awful covers.

'Gramophone', October issue page 25. The Atma CD of Alessandro Scarlatti's 'Stabat Mater' has Emma Kirkby in a full length purple burka!
If they put the headpiece of the burka on the Bartok sonatas SACD and the remainder on the violinist of the Decca 'Four Seasons' SACD it would have been a better use of the material.

I seem to remember an sacd of a female Violinist standing in a River playing her violin in what I described as from a Miss Wet-Teeshirt competition...sadly I was banned from purchasing this item.....

I think you are referring to Vanessa-Mae: "The Violin Player"; EMI Records Ltd. CDC 5 55089 2

i personally think that Brendel is one of the most important pianist of his generation... even if the covers are awful (he has been wearing superb glasses for years...) i am impatient of listening the future recordings of this master ;-)

I think that all Brendel issues should have Vanessa May covers. And all the PentaTone too. Hate their covers.
