I've ordered from cdjapan for the last few years. I placed an order yesterday, for " Hotel California " SACD. It states that the customer will receive 91 frequent shopper points, WHEN THE ITEM SHIPS !
Once i'd placed my order, i noticed the frequent shopper points,(to be added to my account ) for this item, had now been reduced, to 76pts !
I decided to e : mail them. Their response was, because i've placed an order, i have had my points reduced. What kind of loyalty / reward scheme is this ! ?
In the U.K. we have loyalty / discount scheme's ( probably the same everywhere ) If for example, someone gave me a £5.00 voucher, or a number of shopping points, i wouldn't then have that amount reduced, because i'd purchased something !
CD Japan, are misleading their customers ( yes, it's only 15 yen ) but they will do that to every order a customer places, and of course, customers purchase more expensive items too, which indicate bigger misleading discounts ! You shop from us, and we'll reward you, but it's not the reward they are claiming it to be !

Sorry pal, you're on your own with this one. CD Japan have always been brilliant fro me fast, fair & efficient. let's hope this thread is not a silly attempt to discredit them on one misunderstood transaction.

Sort it out with them not through this forum!

I'm not discrediting anyone, just stating a fact ! I've just had a further reply, they confirm that they do this on ALL orders.
Their service is good, ( i've ordered from them for the last 6 years ) but that doesn't give them the right to mislead people, with an award scheme, that's not what it claims to be, does it ! ?

NO...on both counts !

I've ordered twice from them and haven't had anything like this happen. I imagine there's a logical explanation.

I was quite impressed with their response to a problem I encountered with my very first order. As mentioned in another thread, the Klemperer Beethoven Missa Solemnis was initially issued with channels reversed on some tracks. When I contacted CDJapan about exchanging my copy, they said they had negotiated with EMI Japan to send their customers corrected copies without having to send back the defective one. When I checked my customer account I found that they had already recorded an order (gratis) for the replacement copy several days before I contacted them.

Dixie4 - my comment was aimed at John Luke (Hiredfox) hence the reason I quoted his response to you! I thought his response to you was unnecessarily brusque.

Thank you Padraig, as i said, i'm not trying to discredit them, i'm just stating a fact, that i've noticed.
They are a very efficient company & i will continue to order from them. I just feel it's a matter of principle, not to mislead customers, even if that's in a subtle way.
