I'm looking for a special version my folks had on R2R.
I believe the distributor was TWA(the airlines).

Any help would be appreciated.

I don't know how old you are, but I associate Reel-to-Reel with the early Seventies.

* Daniel Chorzempa: Bach, Liszt: Organ Works - Chorzempa might be of the right era (1970). Have a listen at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zHyqCMOtflI
* Or, maybe E. Power Biggs (1973): Bach: The Four Great Toccatas and Fugues - E. Power Biggs
* Or, maybe Virgil Fox (1973): 'Heavy Organ - Bach Live At Carnegie Hall' (not on SACD, yet). Have a listen at http://wn.com/Virgil_Fox_Heavy_Organ

Actually they were American Airlines prerecorded reel to reel tapes from the late 1960's to early 1970's, recorded at 3¾IPS and played for three hours. They were made for inflight playback but were also sold to the public. The tape pictured has Bach's Shepherd's Christmas Music, Tocatta & Fugue must be on a different tape. There were about 50 of them if I remember correctly. BTW I thought they sounded horrible, I preferred 7½IPS RTRs but it was a lot of music for the money.

Sorry that is all I found in a google search, however if you keep searching "American Airlines reel" someone may eventually post a listing or picture online.

If the reel was from the Sixties, then it could be the 1958 Biggs Flentrop rendition: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GVu0auaZu7s

No wonder I'm not finding it, wrong airlines.
Not so much the quality of the recording, but the performance.
Thanks.

Finally, that's the one.
Every other version I've found seemed rushed.

Thanks again.

Sigh! Count on E. Power Biggs to Think Big-- and then (just to be unpredictable) record BWV 565 on an harpsichord*. Personally, I love all the 565s. --But my favourite would be Charles Palmer (Montréal composer turned pig-farmer), leaping up after a long night of hard drinking and ripping a very convincing 565 from the grand piano which dominated his hand-built log cabin.

Thanks for the Trip Down Memory Lane, reminding me that music used to be BIGGER ;-)

ERRATA: 1958 (not 1858): that is both the year of the organ's completion and of Biggs' recording. Dirk Andries Flentrop (1910-2003) designed it, and Edward George Power Biggs (1906-1977) donated it to Harvard University, to replace an Aeolian-Skinner instrument. Biggs, 'The Great American Organist', was born in Westcliff-on-Sea, Essex UK.

Hope that I am not crossing the line by recommending a Frenchman performing the BWV 565, it is definitely the finest in audio department, an RBCD on Dorian label "The Great Organ of St. Eustache Paris" with organist Jean Guillou.
If you have a large playback system with deep bass this is worth a try.

The only line being crossed is the SACD line: Jean Guillou on Dorian, especially with that hand-shaped organ, is wonderful (I love his Pictures at an Exhibition with the water dripping from the ceiling of the catacombs of Paris) -- but that music is forever trapped in the prison of DDD I fear. Guillou did record a handful of LPs which COULD become SACDs....

Do you know anyone who can make me a cd copy of the LP as I don't see any other format besides mp3 ?
