The list of 5.1 masters which were in the can but never released is way beyond the Elton Johns which you mentioned.........try Michael Jackson's Thriller, Van Morrison's Moondance, Crosby, Stills and Nash, Frank Sinatra and Antonio Carlos Jobim, a few of Madonna's early albums and will someone finish the 5.1 mixes for Quadrophenia which recent posters have decried for it's EP status not to mention the hundreds of Quadriphonic 4.0 mixes from a myriad of labels which were only released as LPs, Q8 tape and Reel to Reel 4 channel Quad: Jefferson Starship, Bette Midler's first and best album, probably 100 Angel SQ albums, Moody Blues solo albums and there are also a lot of albums only released as DTS or DD DVDs.......Chicago's first album and most recently Aretha Franklin's Greatest Hits (which sounds amazing in DTS when played at maximum volume).
I would love to see every one of these albums released as Hybrid SACDs and could think of no better outfit than Analogue Productions to tackle all of them.........from the original analogue master tapes and priced at $30 (with further discounting).
But Gus Skinas had better train a small army of new blood to hasten the release of this (I hope) mammoth undertaking.
