Re: the review by Adrian Cue. Hopefully, Adrian, you will see this post. I generally find your reviews helpful BUT they are often difficult to read because of the lack of paragraphs! Please, in future reviews, use more paragraphs to separate the dense text - it's easier on the eyes.
Secondly, this recording is not the first Brahms G minor quartet on SACD - that belongs to the Beaux Arts Trio's 1970's analog recording transferred to SACD by Pentatone. That one is a very good performance in good sound.

I recommended this SACD for the performances, but the sound, at least as to the SACD stereo track, is, in all candor, not terrific. The piano is very closely miked, and unduly percussive, particularly in the louder passages of the Brahms. Overall, the sound is quite forward.
