I won't write a review, since I'm not really qualified to do so for a work of this high stature. However, I'll say that I just listened to it for the first time, and I have to agree with the critics who say the album is great. It has an incredible lineup of musicians and a very punchy sound. It also has the usual Rudi van Gelder hard stereo panning of the players, but we'll just have to live with that.

It is indeed a pleasure to have AP's Impulse and Blue Note mono and stereo recordings done correctly (Van Gelder's own recent Blue Note RBCDs were a disappointment) and to have this treasure on board is exhilarating. I have been coveting these recordings and will shortly add the Verve remasters, as well, to my collection.

Just hope AP can gain access to the Ella Fitzgerald Songbooks which have been on my short list for decades in a higher resolution format.
