I note that the excellent Naxos recording of the Elgar Symphony #3 (Paul Daniel conducting the Bournemouth SO)is now available as an SACD. However, like other Naxos SACDs, it appears to be released in HongKong and China only. Is there any English-speaking website that would sell this and other similar Naxos titles online? I've been to the Naxos HongKong site but couldn't find any English so didn't know whether it was possible to order it direct.

Thanks for any advice.

Naxos Kong Kong has a contact address of order@naxos.com.hk but I understand they'll only take orders from locals.

It appears that wider distribution for these titles is planned for next year. A figure of two SACDs a month was mentioned. The first, Holst: Planets - David Lloyd-Jones, is available now for pre-order in Europe. The remainder of the titles already done will probably follow. I suggest waiting a few months to see what happens.

Alternatively, you could just ask your local retailer to order them (by serial number). It took a while but this is how I got mine.

Stephen, thanks for the information. I shall wait till early next year and see what transpires. I didn't notice an Order option when I visited the Naxos.hk site.

The release plans of two Naxos SACDs a month sounds interesting however. I wonder if they will start DSD mastering, or is their committment to DVD-A such that all their mastering will stay as PCM?

BTW, have you heard the SACD of the Lloyd Jones "Planets"? I recall the original CD getting a very poor review (from the technical standpoint) from "Gramophone" but the DVD-A was very well received when it appeared. I'm just a little disappointed in the Mark Elder/Halle performance on Hyperion although the SACD sound (Tony Faulkner) is marvellous.

I moved the "Planets" out of Naxos Hong Kong and into Naxos proper.

I've got this SACD and like the performance. I have some reservations about the recording itself but it's worthwhile having, IMHO.

I noticed on previous conversations that you weren't able to locate information or in English on the www.naxos.com.hk website. It now has English and the website is being updated.

If you want to order any CDs, you may do so directly at order@naxos.com.hk and someone can reply in English or Chinese. Alternatively, you may also go up to their warehouse to purchase titles directly. Good luck!

Thanks Sheryl. Great to see Naxos interested in SACD again ;-)

I don't this means that any new Naxos SACDs have been released or are going to be released.
