Was downtown today at the local record shop (live in Japan) and saw 3 new Exton recordings that came out. One was a Schubert 8th and 9th symphony with the Arnhem SO.

I can't see the details on Exton's web site yet but will add them when they update this. Thanks.

Hi,

Great news. Were they Multichannel? I buy every large orchestra SACD they issue, and think their engineering is very realistic, especially the strings.

Thanks,
Tom

Yes, they were multichannel hybrids.

I just added details on two Exton SACDs released in December:

Schubert: Symphonies Nos. 7 & 8 - Sieghart
Wagner: Orchestral Works I - Edo de Waart

Picked up the Schubert yesterday. So far, I don't care for the rather smallish number 8 (unfinished), but I'll have to give it a little more time.

It would be cool to read the story of why you switched handles.

Oh, it's a long and sordid story. Flyingdutchman is the name I prefer, but got banned under that name, so went under Samayoeruorandajin which is Japanese for The Flying Dutchman. I lived in Japan for 12 years, was there at that time, and still love Japan very much. Anyway, No one knew for about a year+ but someone finally figured it out (Euell I think)

Well, TB, it takes one to know one as I outed Euell for double posting under the moniker Frederick something........or other!
