I can't believe it! You are that absent minded you could have otherwise forgotten having tickets to such an event? (ouch)

Don't forget!

And enjoy yourself!

My life is hectic, but it was in my calendar, so I wouldn't have actually forgotten. This is the problem with subscriptions, though (I'm doing International Festival of Orchestras II)...it's near impossible to remain entirely aware of the dates several months in advance.

Either way, I'll definitely enjoy myself.

And some cool releases coming up, as well. Happy to see the Brahms, especially - I'd like to see more Brahms/Schumann/Mendelssohn on SACD.

Thanks for this comprehensive update. It looks like I will remain a supporting act for sure. Standard reportoire doesn't scare me at all. It's great music.

Can't help but noting especially this Wagner album... It reminds me about a previous thread long time ago, where you were given suggestions from this forum for new releases. I am pretty sure I was suggesting BFO to go with Wagner to hit some new paths. And that I was alone doing so.

Hmmm... could this be the very first time ever I have ordered a SACD - from scratch so to say?

:-) Tommy

In my case and with every major work/warhorse I normally end up buying a zillion copies until finally I hit one that I personally find the most satisfying, this is a sad situation as I end up with too many that just sit there and are never played.
The Mahler 2 on Channel is my personal definitive version and I have zillion others.
On Shostakovich 11 I have a number of SACD's but my favorite is RBCD Haitink/RCO
On Rachmaninov 1, again I have many but the RBCD Ashkenazy/RCO is still the best, so I will be buying zillion copies of these and others until I find one that suits my taste.
And the list goes on and on.

Vahe

It is wonderful to read such enthusiasm for music. I just hope you are not a dying breed......

On another note... A couple of weeks ago I recorded Jasper de Waal (solo hornist of the Concertgebouw) - (when I hear him playing, I am so glad I stopped playing horn!) with the Amsterdam Sinfonietta together with the tenor James Gilchrist the infamous Britten Serenade. Absolutely first class.

I used the new microphone op amps made by my tech genius Rens Heijnis here in Holland. (all hand made and powered by batteries!)
AND the new T3 cable from van den Hul. The combination is amazing.

(Also recorded the new Mahler 1 with these amps and I can only say I can't wait to release this in September. see our web site under General information and 'equipment' to see pictures of my new toys!

As long as imaginative entrepreneurs like you remain willing to accept the challenges of recording top class musicians at the highest audio resolution possible and commit that to disc we will continue to buy it. That's a given for folk on here and although this site does not in my view lobby anywhere hard enough for the Super Audio cause, as individuals many certainly do.

As we have observed many times before, it is 'The Music that Matters' and the way you deliver it sets the standard which only a very select few can match.

It must be to do with the water in The Netherlands!

I appreciate the support of you and many others on this forum given to Channel and our artists. That I get the chance to work with these musicians is a blessing. The day that I cannot be part of the process of recording and working so closely with them will also be the day that I stop the company because as you say 'its the music'.
There is indeed a good deal of water here in Holland...

greetings

That, and his Mahler 1 for me. His talking about the new custom made for him battery powered mic preamps plus the Grimm ADC, and Ivan's reading of the score, has me really anticipating its release. I heard the BFO preform this at the Proms this past summer. Very very well received.

I've also heard in September with Ivan Fischer and the BFO Mahler no.1 in Milan Conservatorio's auditorium, magnificent performance and exceptional orchestra. Final breathtaking with horns section up in two different positions to give direct effect. I am looking forward to buy the next sacd. Congratulations Channel.

Just came home from Carnegie Hall where Ivan Fischer and the Budapest Festival Orchestra gave a marvelous performance.  The first half featured Andras Schiff in Bartok Piano Concerto No. 2, and in the 2nd half Schubert Symphony #9.  Ivan Fischer is a most impressive conductor.  His pacing and changes in mood during the 9th and the clarity of sound of the BPO made it a very special experience. It is nice to see them get some recognition as one of the best conductor, orchestras.

I am jealous.... I would have loved to be there... making recordings is one thing but there is nothing like the real thing!
PLus I have not been back in Carnegie hall since 1971 when I played there as a horn player with American Youth Performs Orchestra. This was a special orchestra with top students from the whole country. The rehearsals happened during the Kent State murders so we all wanted to play with black armbands (it was a televised performance sponsored by American Airlines) You can understand that the sponsor would not allow this. We were all suppose to be the pure cut american image! We ended up having a minute of silence before the cameras started rolling.
Image is everything.
