Hey guys,

Just letting everyone know; Chad Kassem from Acoustic Sounds, Analogue Productions, ATC (Acoustic Transducer Company), SA Center/Gus Skinas *And James Guthrie* will be in Denver this weekend at Rocky Mountain Audio Fest -- and will be demonstrating and playing the Wish You Were Here SACD in 5.1. As in, if you show, you'll hear it, for real.

The presentation will be played on the same ATC speakers that James Guthrie used to mix the project.

Just trying to get the word out, because everyone really did go all out for this and it'd be great to see some SACD "scene" fans and enthusaists there. The 'Fest starts at 2PM on Friday, at the Denver Marriott Tech Center, (however the WYWH presentation will be close by at the Hyatt Regency) and Friday would be the day to show up, as this is the day that Guthrie will be at the presentation. (The WYWH SACD will be demoed throughout the weekend, however.)

Just wanted to give everyone a heads up and invite. I'm *not* affiliated with the RMAF Fest itself or anything; just the SA Center, but honestly last year there was tons of SACD related stuff there too. (There were even some folks from Sony Japan who were openly discussing the future of DSD.)

(The WYWH SACD presentation will be at the Hyatt Regency Denver Tech Center / Highlands Amphitheatre. I'm trying to get exact times nailed down here but everyone was loading in until 4 AM last night and they neglected to tell me that little piece of information. But, Friday! :) )

Ohhhh.. and say "hi" to James & Gus for us..:)

Thanks Michi..!

Well it will be nice to have a major SACD event at an audio show, it has been quite some time. I am hoping there will be some additional information forthcoming on future SACD release plans.

And obviously, I am hoping it is a successful presentation and creates a big buzz for SACD in the community.

No doubt the mags over here will cover the RMAF as usual and without doubt as usual none of our esteemed pundits will be aware enough of SACD to notice. At least we still have Chandos and the LSO

So far, the sessions have been pretty well packed and the response has been very positive. Some discussions have been going on as far as intentions of doing more in SACD.

So overall it's been turning out pretty well, at least today.

Thanks, Michi, for your feedback. I'm getting excited about WYWH, which I ordered from Acoustic Sounds some time ago.

Michi, is there a SONY presence at the RMAF? If so, please ask them if they would ever reconsider opening up one of their US pressing plants possibly enabling domestic labels to re~enter the SACD market without resorting to overseas replication.

Also, any hot new SACD players?

I guess they must have decided they wouldn't go back to releasing SACDs like Warner Music Japan and Universal Music Japan :(

michi, the important message to get across is not just that SACD should survive in it's present from but that amongst audiohiles it is recognised as the leading edge of high fidelity sound development and that research into even better digital formats than DSD or 24 bit PCM for sound capture and reproduction should continue. As things stand there is no sign of this more aggressive stance by the industry now that Philips and Sony have lost interest.
