It's such a shame this doesn't seem to be being treated as a mainstream release.

Had EMI released this just as they did the DSOTM SACD I think it could have really proved the amount of interest there still is for the format. Instead it's being released on Accoustic Sounds in the US, with no release within Europe at all, making it yet another expensive SACD for a niche market that import(at high cost with further risks of import tax) such discs.

I will of course be importing as I've been waiting years for this release, and I would kill for more PF SACD releases, The Wall and Animals would be amazing! But sadly I don't think the sales will be massive enough for EMI to sit up and take note, they could have been, but it isn't being pushed in the way it should have been.

Would love to be proved wrong though.

I completely agree with these comments.

Don't think so, DSOTM SACD sold 1.6 million copies.

Two points tho: WYWH costs 3x more than DSOTM and lot of nonUS buyers are unhappy about the shipping issues with AP (tho' other alternatives are emerging). Do we know what the preorder numbers for DSOTM were (back in those days)?

Hopefully, things improve with word-of-mouth and the reviews; the cost factor is going to have a lot of folks sitting on the fence till the reviews come out.

It looks as if there is a slight delay in the release as Acoustic Sounds was originally scheduling it for the end of this month but the e-mail I received from it today now states November 8th.

I hope it isn't going to extend beyond that.

The release date has been Nov.7 for a while now. SACD has been delayed to Nov.8, Vinyl until Nov. 9.

Not much of a delay, really.

It's still a LOT cheaper {and multichannel as well} than the SHM~SACDs!

And presumably, James Guthrie was working from the original analogue elements and not 96/24 or 2nd or 3rd generation tapes (unlike Esoteric and Universal/Japan).

I hope we get atom heart mother as a hybrid multichannel sacd, preferably released by emi at a price similar to that of the dsotm moon sacd 30th anniversary release.

Me too, but I think more probably that EMI release Atom Heart Mother in other IMMERSION BOX SET including BBC and live perfomances, Alan Parsons quad version, new James Guthrie's mix in 5.1, ... like DSOTM.
