Anyone have any clue as to when amazon, etc. will be able to sell these? Hopefully at launch, but the release date is not too far away...

So far, Analogue Productions SACDs have never been available at Amazon at the release date (i.e. the date at which Acoustic Sounds started shipping them).

They first became available at Amazon from Marketplace sellers (at prices comparable to JPC) and only much later from Amazon itself.

If this SACD sells really well -- and I guess that's quite a big IF -- what are the chances of other Floyd albums being released in hi-rez?

The hope all around is there will be more. So, in other words, there's intent for the chances of further Floyd SACD releases to be "likely" - but, it all does depend on what you just said. That's what'll sway EMI one way or another.

So. You know. Tell your friends.

Thanks for your reply, Michi. I would love to hear "Atom Heart Mother" in hi-rez and although I listen in stereo only it would be great in multichannel. The opening brass, that motor cycle and then the ethereal choral writing later on.

It's such a shame this doesn't seem to be being treated as a mainstream release.

Had EMI released this just as they did the DSOTM SACD I think it could have really proved the amount of interest there still is for the format. Instead it's being released on Accoustic Sounds in the US, with no release within Europe at all, making it yet another expensive SACD for a niche market that import(at high cost with further risks of import tax) such discs.

I will of course be importing as I've been waiting years for this release, and I would kill for more PF SACD releases, The Wall and Animals would be amazing! But sadly I don't think the sales will be massive enough for EMI to sit up and take note, they could have been, but it isn't being pushed in the way it should have been.

Would love to be proved wrong though.

Certain folks in certain parts of the industry are convinced that nobody cares about quality. This may not also be the only push WYWH:SACD sees. The point is, if it does exceed EMI's already-low expectations, then it'll be a lot more likely that we see follow-ons.

It's bean counters that have to be convinced, by the way. Not people actually involved in the production.

So it's important that this release, even as limited of a push as it is, does at least "relatively" well.

I think the question is not so much about the interest in higher sound quality, but about the SACD format, which many industry people have given up.

After all, both the DSOTM and WYWH Immersion box sets contain hi-rez audio, but on Blu-ray discs.

Is there any indication what "relatively" means....is there a sales number that will catch their attention?

Reports are that pre-orders sit at about 3000. I'm sure that number thrills Analogue Production/Acoustic Sounds but is it enough to turn heads at EMI.

Don't think so, DSOTM SACD sold 1.6 million copies.
