For all of you surround aficionados, the Steve Wilson 96/24 5.1 remixed DVD~As of Discipline and Starless and Bible Black will be shipping (in the US) from Amazon on October 25th. Current pricing for the two disc IMPORTs are $18.41 each (remastered RBCD/DVD~A).

Wilson has done an astonishing job on previous KC reissues and hopefully, he won't disappoint.

And the Price is Right!

BTW, if you pre~order them, you'll always get the original price (listed at the time of purchase) and sometimes (more often than not) a further reduction in price. A few days ago, the same exact discs were listed for $29.95 each (now $18.41!)

No really, it has not disappointed me.

Starless and Bilbe Black has the sense of urgency it should have from the start.
The new mix by SW is more vivid and clear than any other previous releases.

Some sort of surprise comes when you listen to the Zürich Volkhaus set (6tks):
Lament
The Night Watch
Fracture
The Law of Maximum Distress Pt.1
The Mincer
The Law of Maximum Distress Pt.2

The Mincer is the integral part of the Maxumum Distress improv, which I do not know when I had bought Grate Deceiver live-boxset. In the accompanying booklet Fripp has stated that during improv at Zürich the tape has run out AFAIK, so I thought, that majority of Maximum Distress has been lost forever.

Coud someone clear this particular mystery?

Discipline

This surely does not disappionting either! The split of the two guitars into different channels reveals much more which has been hidden in stereo mix!
Tony's bass work is also much more identifiable than on previous releases.

As with previous 40th anniversaries: when you get this far, you will never get back. Bravo to SW for presenting KC in new light....

Oh, gee, and here I thought this was a SACD forum.

In all fairness, FD, I did preface the thread with OT.....with SO few 5.1 Rock/POP titles available (do the math), I thought it might be of some interest.

BTW, Sylvian, the BD Audio of Steve Wilson's "Grace For Drowning" is another stellar release, replete with 6 videos and accompanying 96/24 audio in 5.1!

I've got these on preorder as well since the previous KC titles have impressed me with Wilson's surround mixes. I know "Discipline" fairly well but not very familiar with "Starless..." so look forward to listening to these. Also in full agreement about "Grace for Drowning" in 5.1. Actually I have yet to be let down by Wilson's mixes such that I'm one of the suckers purchasing the upcoming "Aqualung" 40th anniversary set just to get the BD with his 5.1 mix.

Am hoping that they release the BD audio of Aqualung separately as I'm not a fan of "Immersion" boxed sets. But Aqualung has always been a well~recorded pop chestnut and I'm sure Mr. Wilson will NOT disappoint.

About a hundred years ago our band played Fracture (I had completely forgot about that piece till now), but not at dances. ;-)
