Gerald, I will take your word for the brightness issue but a few canny tweaks, I'm sure, would alleviate that brightness.

I did NOT say that DVD~A is better than SACD. I just wish there were a Multichannel SACD player that would equal the Meridian 800's DVD~A's astounding replication (The Meridian 800 costs about $10K back in the day). Sadly, the Sony 5400ES and the various Oppos are not the ticket nor is the Ayre DX~5 ($10,000).

I know in my heart that the only hope was the Playback Design MPS~5, but unfortunately, one has to stack two units to extract 4.0 multichannel from SACD and I've never even bothered to ask the price.....probably around $21K.

It seems the budding stereo mentality among enthusiasts has put a snag in creating a mch SACD machine of the caliber I describe.

As I said, Gerald, with all the ribbing, I seriously hope you enjoy your new system.

Hi , Rock & HIGH Roller Ralph , To reduce the brightness on the B & W Diamonds would probably require considerable alteration to the X over net work if one exists , it does not on the CM8 & CM9's . I appreciate your comments re enjoyment of my new forthcoming Aurousal VSx speakers which according to you should sound even better with my own more substantial better cabling , but I know from long experience that it is the listening room that has the greatest influence on the sound. It seems you have the largest collection of expensive Hi-Fi known to man, When you are gone perhaps there should be a Rammiepie Museum of High End Hi-Fi. Despite all the ribbing, I know we both do not take it too seriously , Happy listening . Gerald

Hi Pacmin,

I ordered an creek evoultion 2 amplifier with the intention to use it with an SACD player.

I confirmed that the output of the SACD is 2.0 V and the input sensitivity of the amplifier is 480mV (last page of this document: http://www.creekaudio.com/products/instructions/evolution2_amp.pdf).

This that mean that this equipment should not be used together?

Not necessarily. Every amplifier is different. Sensitivity is a measure of the voltage input required to generate the rated output of the amplifier . Many amplifiers tolerate higher level inputs without side effects, just requiring you to turn the volume down. In other cases, especially, lesser amplifiers, excessive input voltage (and wildly mismatched impedance) can cause distortion and noise.

I would be very surprised if the Creek doesn't cope with the voltage, as they are fairly high performance products. Try it. Its unlikely to cause irreversible damage
