I would like to hear from people that have used, or are presently using the Denon link system.

I am curious as to what you have found; as to whether it makes an audible improvement to multi-channel SACD playback over analogue or HDMI.

I am trying to decide on what direction to go with a multichannel SACD player and pre/pro, and I may end up going with Denon products for their "link" if it really makes a difference.

I quite like Denon receivers, but whilst waiting for their DBP-1611 player release late last year, my research indicated their DVD/BD players are dodgy.

With Denon-Link you are limiting yourself to Denon products; exclusively. Not a good thing.

DSD over HDMI is universal; Denon link is not.

I use DenonLink 3 for SACD (2-ch and mch) via DSD. It works flawlessly. The same cannot be said for HDMI. My TV is connected to the system via HDMI, and about 5 minutes after I "turn off" the TV it sends a signal to the receiver that interrupts the SACD playback for several seconds... Very annoying.

I am using Denon link-3(Cat 5a cable) between a Denon DVD-5910CI A/V Progressive Scan DVD Audio/SACD Player and a Denon AVR-4806CI THX® Ultra2 7.1 CH Reference A/V Surround sound reciever. I am very happy with it.

It's been great for me, however I never set the 5910ci player up as analog out to another manufactuers device and performed a listing test. But did try it to the denon reciever over analog and like the Denon link 3 overall.

I like it because it passes PCM to the reciever. All the bass/speaker management is performed on the reciever..crisper sound and better bass punch.

Just my 2-cents

I use Denon link 4th generation between a AVR 4810 and the A1UD. The result is amazing. I can compare with "normal" HDMI, which is sounding substantially less good. I can definitely recommend it.

I too am using Denon Link 4 with a similar amp and player, and the extra refinement of spatial positioning in multichannel is well worth while.

Thank you for the replies.

I am trying to decide between the 4311CI and the 4810CI. Their purchase prices are now within $200 of each other. And though I was hoping that Denon would come out with a lower priced player with Denon Link 4th, it does not look like it is going to happen. I am leaning towards the DBP4010UDCI; the A1UD is just too much money for me.

Is there any benefit in going for the newer Denon-Link 4th over 3rd in regards to SACD playback?
