Yes HP is my inspiration. However the reported problems are mechanical and that is why Sony is also not on my Radar.

In the UK HP means HP sauce. No mechanical problems after nearly two years constant use of my SONY XA5400ES . Early DA 5400ES receiver was troublesome mainly due to incompatibility with TV , insufficient manual instructions & well known HDMI handshake issues but receiver instantly exchanged and now works fine every time . Many reviewers do not have a reviewed product long enough to find the problems , plus they can get specially selected ones. In the US Oppo appears to be good value in the UK they are well overpriced.

Gulp. Teresa, I hate to tell you this, but HP listens to and admires hi rez multichannel. He just has not written about it in TAS much because of editorial policy dictates. I have an impeccable source of information for this shocking revelation.

However he does agree with me about Telarc SACDs being sonically the finest and the better the equipment the better they sound. Mussorgsky: Pictures at an Exhibition etc. - Järvi on the Playback Designs SACD player was thrilling beyond belief.
And, naturally, you heard Pictures via analogue and NOT HDMI. I still have NOT read a review on the Playback Design MPS~5 in multichannel nor do I know the pricing and Analogue Productions which has been a dealer has consistently had the MPS~5 on "back~order status." Must be a hot unit, indeed!
