MCH SACD is far superior for realism and can be achieved by low cost systems.

Well, yes and no.

Yes, you can have low cost MCH SACD system, a total system assembled from scratch and for this purpose only.

No, if you like most of us who already have a very expensive two channel system, expanding this system to a MCH is definitely an expensive proposition, I have one such system and I get dizzy everytime I look at the cost of adding components for a comparable MCH system.

You can still use your existing amplifier for your front speakers then use the pre out of a inexpensive receiver mainly as a pre-pro I recommend the Sony DA6400Es which I understand is being sold off cheaply if still available. Then all you need is a pair of smaller rear speakers, this should not make you dizzy.

I just want to confirm that Chandos has not given up on SACD and will continue to produce Surround Sound multi-layer SACD's as long as there is a market that will produce enough sales to sustain the expensive manufacturing cost and a factory that makes them.
As usual we are selective about what we put on them and will only release true Surround Sound Hi Resolution products. We are not ones for up-converting recordings from PCM 16bit CD standards as there is no benifit.
This year we hope to release around 12 new titles in SACD format.

That IS good news, but I'm disappointed the new Edward Gardner recording of the Britten Cello Symphony, Gloriana and Four Sea Interludes was not an SACD.

Ralph, many thanks for coming on here and clarifying the Chandos position. It is now really down to us... we'll keep on buying SACDs for as long as you keep on recording them, won't we guys?

That IS good news,

News reports here in North West England show that Chandos are lucky to still have the BBC Philharmonic available to record especially in high quality 24/96.
They were travelling over a suspension bridge on their way south to Tokyo exactly when the Earthquake struck.Video of the event from a bus on local tv shows their lucky escape.
Now This is good news

Oh, my! Thank goodness they were among the lucky ones. This whole situation really puts things in perspective, doesn't it?
