How about no tape hiss at all, why not eliminate this awkward step of recording music to an antiquated analog tape and go directly to DSD?
Do you think there's future for DSD recording as far as new music is concerned?
Isn't tape hiss inevitable though with analog recordings though? Depending on how it was originally recorded?

Get real: pop/rock etc. genre involves much mixing and processing, sometimes there are dozens of sound manipulation plugins piled on each track, and there are up to hundred tracks. None of this works with DSD, only PCM. Thus it is a complete waste of time and effort to do the original recording/tracking in DSD. Besides after heavy manipulation and compression with maybe 6 dB dynamic range left nobody could tell any difference.

I'm talking about new music (classical/jazz/blues) not pop/rock.

DSD is fine for "pure" classical with no or few edits, mainstream blues & jazz gets processed and mixed too much to use DSD. "Pure" audiophile blues/jazz recorded live could benefit from DSD, just like classical.

There's going to be new hardware released in September which will significantly broaden the use of recording in DSD, where it makes sense.

The Foo Fighters recorded their newest album using all analogue equipment. They made a big deal about not using Pro Tools. Even included 1" pieces of the analogue masters with each CD.
If you're a fan, the album is incredible. Just an aside.

It all sounded good, until you said each cd had analogue tape. Oh, the irony. Irrelevant unless you get a vinyl copy, or......sacd....fat chance.

Recorded on analog tape ... and afterwards brickwalled to death :)
Why care about the "recording gear" if you don't care about the "soundquality" of the final product?
