The RQR series only includes quadro recordings, so if a session on that Arrau 2CD reissue was recorded in stereo it will never be reissued by Pentatone.

Well, never say never, but surely it would not be issued in the RQR series. However look at the "exception" they are making for Hans Vonk issuing rbcds.

I'm new to this thread so apologies if I have missed something.

I'm wondering if any more recordings by the New Dutch Academy are planned. I've got the Schmidt one they did and it is marvellous - musically and sound-engineering-wise. I haven't got the Mannheim Volumes 1 and 2 yet but I plan to do so soon.

As a follow-up to post #497, note that the PentaTone "Release Planning" page has been revised to add this RQR listing for July 2008 (actually replaces the previously listed Dvorak: The 2 Piano Quartets):

Berlioz
Requiem Op.5 “Grande Messe des Morts”
Ronald Dowd - tenor
London Symphony Orchestra and Chorus
Wandsworth School Boys’ Choir
Sir Colin Davis

Not sure when this appeared, but it's rather exciting news! (also somewhat surprising considering that the remastered Philips 'Originals' edition was released just a year ago)

Very good news about the Davis Berlioz Requiem, still the benchmark for this great score {IMHO).

"New" new release information gleaned from the latest newsletter:
RNO/Pletnev in Shostakovich 15 & Hamlet (?)
Kodama in LvB x 2 (08, 09)
CPO/Foster in Schumann 3 & 4 (?)
Fischer/Helmchen in Schubert x 2 (?)

First and last are particularly appealing (if not sad in the knowledge that the Schubert will be JF's last contributions to PentaTone).

Are following Philips opera titles recorded between 1969 - 1980 quadraphonic recordings?

1) Berlioz's "Les Troyens" / Davis (1969)

2) Puccini's "La Boheme" / Davis (1979)

3) Massenet's "Werther" / Davis (1980)

4) Tchaikovsky's "Pique Dame" / Ermler (1974)

I just happen to own these titles (ADD). The first is a classic, and the next two features Jose Carreras' young voice.

I thought Pentatone's SACD release of "Tosca" is amazingly good, and wondering if other quadraphonic opera recording can make its way to the RQR release.

I am wondering myself if the Debussy 2 CD set in the Philips Duo series with Haitink and van Beinum was quad? Any chance of us seeing these great Debussy performances in the RQR Series? Can Pentaman shed any light on this?

Are Julia Fischer and her piano trio recording any more discs? I'd love Brahms piano trios......!

This doesn't answer your questions, but is still quite interesting.
