We need more information. Yes you will be able to play this disc in SACD stereo. What connection do you have between the player and the amp? A digital one is ideal for playing normal CDs but you must have a stereo phono connection to play the hi-res layer.

Afraid so, unless you have i.Link/FireWire/etc to link the player & receiver digitally the source has to be fed on an analogue connection.

Nope. Only i.Link/FireWire/IEEE1394 - DenonLink is also OK but as you have bought Sony...

There must be notice at the operation manual saying that no digital output is available with SACD. Use analog connection instead: stereo CD output for stereo playback or 5.1 output for multichannel. However CD layer digital output of hybrid SACD is available.

What models ? use a HDMI cable if no sound something is faulty,or HDMI not engaged.

With a Sony player/receiver, there are only 2 ways to get sound from the hi rez SACD layer: HDMI or analog. Coax or Toslink will not work, because they do not provide copy protection as Sony requires for digital transmission of the hi rez "layers" on the disk. Coax or Toslink will work if the player is set to play the CD layer, as there is no copy protection required for that. So, my suggestion is simply to hook it up via HDMI, except you do not have that capability. Analog connection in low end Sony components would likely be compromised and sound inferior, but it is your only choice for now.

Yes, Denon player/AVR/AVP combos can also be connected via Denon's D-Link for transmission of hi rez DSD. Meitner players can output DSD via a fiber optic connection to their DAC or certain other devices, but these are all proprietary solutions.

I do not believe Firewire would work because of the same copy protection issues with DSD, assuming you could find components that sent or received via Firewire (highly unlikely.)
