I have moved this SACD from my "Recommended-No" to my "Recommended-Yes" list, with the following reservations:

This SACD does not have a high resolution stereo program. Telarc claims there was not enough room due to the long playing time. So if you have a stereo-only player avoid this as you will only be able to listen to the CD-layer. If you listen in 2 channel stereo and have a multichannel player that folds-down multichannel to stereo you can hear the high resolution layer.

The high resolution layer is NOT very high though, 20 Bit 44.1kHz but is sounds very good and much better than CD but be warned it is not as good as an SACD from a high resolution master.

Teresa, stop bursting my bubble. I loved this album when it was a DTS disc (sounded incredible and a potential speaker blower, at that) and it sounds better in MCH SACD.

How anyone can listen to this album in stereo, is beyond.

It's akin to watching Gone With The Wind in Black and White!

And some of us DO GIVE A DAMN!

I slept on it and decided to move it back to my "Recommended-No" list as I would not want someone with a Stereo-only SACD player being stuck with being able to only play the CD layer.

It does sound good enough to recommend IF, and ONLY IF you can play multichannel or have a player that folds-down the DSD layer from multichannel to stereo.

Teresa, even you have to admit, it's a fun album......certainly one of Kunzel's best and the sound is spectacular! A perfect demo disc if ever there was one.
