Any idea with regular play and care and handling how long my SACD will live for ?

Just wondered if anyone knows the durability and longevity on these players and do they differ from regular CD players

In terms of years, it won't last as long because you will be playing it a lot more. :-)

Components do not like spikes and surges so I hope you have it plugged into a power conditioner which will inevitably prolong its life expectancy......and also replace the stock power cord with a better grade one.

Dunno. The only digital player I have ever had fail on me was an ancient and flimsy Magnavox CDB-650. All the others have worked without problems including the infamous Philips SACD-1000! IMHO, if the player ain't junk and you treat it well (clean environment and AC), it should work until it is obsolete.

Capacitors dry out, bearings wear out, lasers wear out - on the other hand some examples of 20 yo players like the CD12 still play like new.

The earliest CD players last the longest. They were made to last because the designers didn't quite know yet how to engineer them such that they'd last just long enough to meet the minimum requirement.

How true! My 25 year old Denon DCD 1500 still works like a charm. Just a little noise on the headphone volume pot.
