just wonder if anyone has anything special here or do i just keep it in a dust free environment ?

I just run it through the rinse cycle every few months. No harsh detergents.

The best advice is to keep your hands off discs and anything internal to the player like the tray, use only the remote to operate the player, i.e. keep your hands off the controls as much as possible. Do not use any sprays or polishes in your listening room and positively no smoking or animals that way no grease or fibres or deposits will find their way into the box and obscure the lens.

SACD players are not PCs (they typically don't have fans, for instance) but you'll still want to avoid what happened to these units:

Please do not use ultrasonic humidifiers in your house. The fine dust(the minerals in the tap water) that are released in the air by this method of humidification will coat the laser lens and cause player failure. I use a heated humidifier so the minerals are left on the humidifier(which has to be periodically cleaned). Use purified water when possible.

Or, you can hermetically seal the player in plexiglas and create somewhat of a museum piece and when someone asks you what it is you can answer:

Hirefox: Don't breathe on it........don't touch it...........it's the closest thing I have to STILL LIFE!

I betcha you wouldn't do that if you got your grubby hands on a Playback Design Multi~Channel MPS~5 which is ALL analogue ALL the time................
