There are some orchestral recordings done at the new Disney Hall in L.A., but are there any with the splendid organ or even just solo organ? I would love to hear it even if from a disk.

Yes, I have done some searching.

Love the TROLL moniker although like a bad highway accident, it makes me want to look...

Yeah, happily trolling for a Disney Hall Organ recording...

Or do I need a dragnet?

Your incredible provocation provoked me, too, to do some research, and it seems (at least as of 7 months ago) that no recordings have been made as of yet that feature that organ: see comments to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SwquE28s6-g&feature=related.

Too bad, since even some of my favorite pipe organ heroes, both old school and new school, have been around to check out that apparently marvellous instrument:

Old school: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8ZChV28zNbE

New school: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f2GwWeQAx34 and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cNPzz8W-jCo

Cheers,

PT

Based on attending just one symphony concert there (I don't live in LA), I would think that the hall is too dry for a solo organ recording. One of the great organists of all time, Jean Guillou, played a recital there a year or two ago, but it was not recorded.

Thanks a lot, have to order that! I knew about the book/CD already, but I have been waiting for a real recital recording.
