Just ordered this SACD which is supposed to be released Wednesday (1/26/11) as it has my two favorite Holst compositions, Beni Mora and the Japanese Suite! I have both as low resolution Lyrita MP3s can't wait to hear them in glorious DSD recorded SACD!

It also has the Planets.

Teresa, could it possibly be better (the Planets) than my Tomita 4.0 DVD~A from Japan?

Personally I didn't like the Tomita RCA LP version for synthesizer and prefer the orchestral version. I already have the Planets of course. What makes me excited is the Japanese Suite and Beni Mori in high resolution! The Planets is a bonus, I guess I will hear when it arrives.

Chandos actually recorded this in DSD?

Chandos recorded Vol. 1 in DSD so I would assume Vol. 2 is also.

Well good for Chandos! Not that there's anything wrong with 94/26.

It's recorded in DSD according to the website:

http://www.chandos.net/details06.asp?CNumber=CHAN%205086

But I don't agree with your assumption. Since Vol.2 is recorded by a different recording team in a different location, it could well be that different recording equipment is used.

Chandos recorded Vol. 1 in multi-channel. Any word about the content of Vol. 2?

Chandos are really up-front about their recordings as indeed are Exton/Cryston/ Triton. All state very clearly on the back-cover if recordings were indeed recorded in "Pure-DSD".

Some may recall, I posted a reply-letter from Chandos late last year which assured us of their continuing commitment to SACD and pure-DSD recording, that they would be increasing the number this year although they could not guarantee that all future classical releases would be SACD.

I see absolutely no reason to concern oneself with 'what/ifs' and 'maybe's' in their case.
