Thinking about buying a Sony DVP-S9000ES for SACD playback. I have been reading alot of reviews and realize this is not a new unit and I will be faced with repairs sooner than later. The purchase price is under $200.00 and it is both cosmetically and functionally good. Here are my questions:

1. Are parts generally still available?

2. Are there problem areas where replacement parts are not available?

3. Do you have any comments or recommendations?

Thanks!

I´m no expert. But...

1. I believe parts can still be aquired if necessary.
2. Don´t know.
3. Buy two, have them both cleaned and serviced, use one as a spare.

Enjoy!

Interesting thread...

I have a Yamaha RX-V2600 receiver with a Yamaha CD-S700 (CD Player) and a Pioneer Elite BD-51FD blu ray player. My front speakers are Boston Acoustics VR-M90's with a matching center channel (VR-MC). My amp is manufactured from Emotiva (XPA-2) which produces 300W across 2 channels. The Emotiva amp has unreal specifications and compete's with amps that cost $4K or more.

Like yourself, I am very interested in obtaining this SACD player since it encompasses an excellent SACD decoder. It is my understanding this player corrected the flaws found in the Sony SC-D1 and SC-D777ES models.

The good news is that these regularly come up on eBay. Note, the high bid for the Sony DVP-S9000ES usually sells for about $150. Please do not bid on the one the ends tonight around 11 PM (EST). Thanks!

And, I will let you know if I purchase this awesome player. Just to think, these used to sell for $1,500. I was very fortunate to purchase the Yamaha CD-S700 player (MSRP $999) at BestBuy for ONLY $49. Yep, open box item and was never used.
