I'd love Universal to release the Takacs set of the Bartók's on SACD. The quartet toured here last year and the concert of theirs I attended featured the finest No. 4 I've ever heard! Quite astonishing.
I'd also welcome Juilliard's '63 recording, which is near impossible to find on CD (though I have it!). Superbly recorded too. But I'm not counting on every seeing this on SACD.

My point. The Orlando aka Parkanyí Quartet's Ravel/Debussy Tchaikovsky discs are everything an SACD should be. Look out Paris, here come my euros... (I'm excited!).

The link should be OK now. Thanks Brenda
To Tererence: I'm 1000 km away from my low-fi system for a few days so I have not been able to listen to this disk yet (a compulsive buy indeed). Moreover I am not really familiar with Bartok string quartets and my english is very poor so I'm not planning to write a full review. However if there is no review posted during the next few weeks I will try to briefly summarized my feelings on the sound quality and (possibly) the interpretation compared to the only other version I have (an old DG recording by the hungarian string quartet)
Regards,
Lionel

-- And here's another one! I don't see this one on the net here either:
Borodin Quatuor no. 1, Quintette / Kocian Qtt / Praga Digital
(I did a search on "hybride quatuor" in [Disques Classiques] category, and got 31 hits).

I've also seen it in the same store as the Bartok so it is available. It has received a rave review from a french classical music newspaper (This month's Classica / Repertoire)
