Have you tried it?

I think this is mainly interesting from a theoretical point of view.

If ever there became a significant amount of DSD downloads available (which I doubt will happen), I would rather be able to play them directly on a PC or music server (with a suitable high end DAC) than having to burn them on a DVD-R and play them on a limited number of compatible DVD/Blu-ray players.

+1

In the near future SACD will have to compete with audiophile network players http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RqugGNUD1Ow&feature=channel - I wouldn't concentrate on burning DSD-discs at this point.

I have Sony BDP-S370 and i tried to play DSD-Disc made by Korg's AudioGate software - it didn't play on that player.

Is a DSD disc the same as an unprotected SACD? Maybe there is a difference in the authoring of the disc.

did you follow the instruction re burning to disc as an ISO image ?

I'd be very interested to learn about any proof for this assertion. DSD on a blank DVD (with a certain file/folder structure) makes a DSD Disc, which PS3 and Sony's latest two SACD players support, but Sony's confirmed to me the 2010 BD players (all of which are SACD-compatible) take exception here.

I have a Sony bdp-s470 and also tried with Audiogate and it also doesn't work. Anyone done it?

Thanks for the link, there is a post that mentions that all 2010 sony bluray players ignore pit signal processing. So i maybe do something wrong. Maybe Audiogate does not create a SACD image. Exploring the dvd that i burnt, i cant see something wrong. It has a directory named DSD_DISC and inside there are the .dsf files plus one playlist file .dpp

Just to remind everybody of the following from the posting guidelines:

6. Posts encouraging or otherwise informing others of any means to circumvent SA-CD copy protection and/or posting of links to sites that offer pirated music content will be summarily deleted. Repeat violations will result in a permanent ban.

Like it or not, copy protection is a feature of the format. It could be argued that SA-CD wouldn't have gotten as far as it has without it. I recently wiped another seemingly innocent thread on "archiving your SA-CDs" and will have no hesitation in doing so again if this thread strays into the same territory. I don't want to clamp down on discussion of topics of genuine interest, but it's a pretty thin line and I will be watching.
