Did we need yet another Trilogy?

Absolutely!

Big time, as there is a dearth of good SACD's of this material.

There are 3 sacd recordings of the Pines. None of them, previous to this one could be considered a good multi-channel release. While there are dozens of other things I would have preferred to see released; Prokofiev Symphony #6, #7; all the Nielsen symphonies, Levine's Mozart#40 Levine's Ma Vlast, a good recording of Berwald's Symphony No. 3 and on and on... I have to say that I will snatch this one up, which is all three tone poems, as soon as it is available here.

For my private listening pleasure I will play it once, maybe twice in the first year. Maybe once every other year thereafter. I am certain it will turn out to be recorded well enough that I will use it as demo material when I invite friends over.

Thumbs up Bissie!

Delectable!

I love the artwork for a start. The Reiner Pines and Fountains are still sublime but are starting to sound a little elderly now. I can't comment on "Roman Festivals" SACDs as I've haven't any of heard them.

Technically, this one should be excellent.

A quick question...is this 5.0 or 5.1? I know classical generally doesn't use the subwoofer, but the subwoofer can really give a nice kick to parts of this piece (at least so it seems listening to a CD matrixed to 5.1).

BIS is exclusively 5.0 for its recordings (it makes no difference if you have full range speakers or you set bass handling up on your player or amp/rec); Linn, Pentatone & Channel Classics ditto. Some labels like LSO Live vary the configuration (occasionally on the same disc!) between .0 and .1

I received mine a few days ago and have played it through three times. In brief, the 10/10 review on ClassicsToday is fully justified. What wasn't mentioned, however, is the placement of rear-channel brass in the Pines and Festivals, used to thrilling effect. This is the way I heard the Pines in the concert hall and a perfect use of mch capability.

"Es folgen weitere Produktionen brasilianischer Musik, aber auch Aufnahmen der sinfonischen Werke Ottorino Respighis, und der komplette Hindemith - das ist einer meiner Lieblingskomponisten.Ich bin ganz großer Hindemith Fan."

The next project: the complete symphonic works of Hindemith
