I am afraid all discussions in this forum begin in a rational way but end up being religious. No good information exchange is possible under the circumstances I am describing. The same applies to many other issues (for ex. tubes vs. solid state, resolution of BIS recordings, PCM vs DSD, etc). A pity!

Agreed, Hitters: but one glance at other websites will unearth the same jargon......what always begins with the best of intentions is ultimately hijacked until the original subject no longer has any conceivable relevance.

Chalk it up to a world wide Attention Deficit Syndrome epidemic..........And ADS isn't a Spars code!

Yes, Ralph, you might be right. I probable over-esteemed the possibility of sharing experiences and information with people all over the world regarding very specific matters such as music reproduction. I do not know many people in my city with whom to sit and talk about audio gear, recording techniques or music. This forum gives us the improbable opportunity of getting to know very rare people who share with us some passions and to blow it away by teen discussions seems to me a complete shame. Luckily, there are members of this forum who discuss and interact in an adult way. We can even change opinions with the label owners! Come on, this is heaven! Would have been impossible to imagine 10 years ago. I am still thankful to Zeus for this and try to enjoy the medium he has provided.

Lighten up, Juan. What would be left of this place without all the fighting? Ups, I'm contradicting myself over at "No more negative reviews" thread (now mercifully defunct). Anyway, I'm putting my money on Hiredfox over Disbeliever on this Marantz battle. I believe John is a bit younger and can pack a faster punch than Gerald...

My experience with the SA7 was confirmed by a loudspeaker designer and it is illuminating to read the review by Mark Lawton in PFO whereby he found it necessary to send it off to the Mod Man for modification he even states what improvements he hopes to gain. Hired Fox annoyed me long ago when he accused me of not even owning an SA7 , my overall experience of Hi-Fi having been a manufacturer, retailer , importer & exporter , knowing most of the British Hi-Fi Pioneers being involved with BBC engineers Americans Dave Hafler & others Germans & Japanese plus many of the top technical consultants is probably far greater than John's. I think you would lose money over your so-called Marantz battle. When Philips owned Marantz I was buying Marantz products directly from them.. I could go on but I am not going to write a full autobiography at this time.

Rammiepie you are again misrepresenting what I actually said so finally I say to you "Get Knotted". In the very first review of the Sony XA5400ES by Alvin Gold he says its worth noting that SACD does,nt necessarily perform better than CD. The critical factor appears to be how the raw data is handled at the production stage. I said well mastered RB CD's can be as good as some SACD,s. It seems you and Teresa would make a good combination. ha.

I wasn't speaking metaphorically when alluding to putting my money on John over you. I was just joking in that your decades-long experience in audio led me to assume that he's a bit younger and could actually beat you up on a boxing match, fistfight or arm-wrestling contest. Either way, while I do admit to a somehow perverse enjoyment of your tug-of-war with him, I'm really a very satisfied owner of a Sony XA5400ES player as well, with no personal experience whatsoever with the Marantz brand.

On an unrelated matter, I was wondering about your impressions of Rachmaninov: The Bells, Symphonic Dances - Bychkov, which you were about to order a while back...

Thanks for the clarification. I don't remember saying I was going to order the disc you mention.

Samv. Don't suppose your Sony XA5400ES is still available?
