I have many SACD's.

Just installed my new equipment which includes a Denon AVP-A1HDCI.

To that I have connected via digital my Pioneer Elite AX10 that's plays 2 channel SACD's. The specs for the AX10 show SACD's output as Digital Audio (DSD).

Denon says they support that audio stream, however, I am not getting any audio from system.

I was hoping I would not have to connect the 5.1 analog cables from the player to the receiver.

Any advise, or suggestions?

Thanks

1. To that I have connected via digital my Pioneer Elite AX10 that's plays 2 channel SACD's. The specs for the AX10 show SACD's output as Digital Audio (DSD). If you were using Pioneer's proprietary PDIF connection(3 wires), that is an exception and unique to Pioneer.

2. Denon says they support that audio stream, however, I am not getting any audio from system.

3. I was hoping I would not have to connect the 5.1 analog cables from the player to the receiver.

1. I really doubt that you are playing the SACD tracks via "digital," assuming you mean coax or optical. You are probably getting the CD layer of the disc unless there was a proprietary encrypted connection between player and amp.

2. Nothing (aside from proprietary links like Pioneer's 3 wire PDIF) will convey SACD (DSD) audio stream over coax/optical.

3. HDMI and 5.1 analog are the only options but, in the case of the Pioneer Elite AX10 even these may not be possible. It lacks HDMI and the chart on page 31 implies that it will not output multichannel from the analog outs from SACD.

How is the Denon AVP-A1HDCI working out for you?

Does anyone have some experience with this unit for multi-channel SACD playback?

Yeah, I think your problem is that you're trying to play SACD though the optical/coaxial cable, which you can't do. If you're only playing 2 channel SACD, just use the stereo RCA cables. If you have HDMI outs on the player and an HDMI input on the receiver, go with that.
