Calling all you British SA-CD.net contributers!!!!
I'm new to SACD and would like to try and find as many sources as possible for discs (other than the usual Amazon, Ebay et al!).

Any ideas folks?

Using the Amazon and Crotchet links on /support (or from individual disc pages) help support this site - I'm sure you have many experiences of Amazon; Crotchet provide a very good service.

There are others (of course) but I won't mention them here as doing so would not support Steven (Zeus) in covering the running costs of this fabulous resource.

This site now provides links to ten vendors around the globe: two each in the US, UK, Germany, Japan plus one in France and Canada. All carry a good range of titles, advertise competitive pricing and, just as importantly, provide excellent service to their customers. The site is supported solely through sales made through these vendors and using the specially coded links provided. These links have been checked out, to the best of my ability, to ensure accuracy so you'll receive what you expect ... there's any number of bogus listings as numerous posts here will attest. It's expected that everybody will make their own purchasing decisions based on any number of factors, but the consideration here is on the sustainability of the site. Thanks for your understanding.

I am British, and someone that both contributes here from time to time - and regularly buys SACDs.

There is very little that I could add to what the previous posters have already mentioned, apart from the fact that from my experience, the sites shown on this forum offer most of what you'll find anyway.

I used to look around in high street retailers, but have now given up. I think you'll find most of them do not even know what an SACD is anyway.

I like to support this site. I always look here first to see if something is available from one of the sa-cd.net vendors - only if its not, do I look elsewhere. Also I always check to see if something else (like a bottle of olive oil) is available from Amazon by going through the support link (between "search" and "FAQ" then clicking on the Amazon link. This site is invaluable! Support it!

Thank you! (as Windsurfer descends from the soapbox)

Was the olive oil pressed from the latest Grimm olive press?

Olives harvested and pressed in Liguria, Italy

Other details I cannot say. But this is the sweetest, mildest olive oil available, I think.

Hey Connecticut man, how far are you from Boston? And, do you ever go to Tanglewood? Ozawa Hall there is very fine, but the shed only tolerable if you get seats pretty close to the stage.

Haven't made it to Tanglewood yet, but will one of these summers (now, how many years have I been saying THAT?). For many seasons the Newport Music Festival (classical, not the jazz or folk festivals) was an annual visit, once affording the serendipitous pleasure of enjoying dinner at La Petite Auberge (recommended) with Victor Borge, a sweet and charming man, who had just sailed in to give a performance. Next up is a nice little concert at AFH on Tuesday comprised of opera and ballet selections from Mozart, Rossini, Donizetti, Puccini and others, with soprano Nicole Cabell. Recent summers have been largely devoted to my four grandsons, ages 4, 7, 7 and 7, one of whom, upon receipt of a dollar bill for a lost tooth, looked at the portrait and asked, "is that Beethoven?"; confirmation that this is time well spent.

Report back on how things go at Tanglewood this summer. Sadly, I have it on good authority from friends with long tenure at both The Met and NY Philharmonic, that rumors of Mr. Levine's declining health are indeed true.

Cordially,
CM
