For instance, Adcom makes a $1000 (list price) 5 channel power amp, 125 watts per channel, but I haven't seen a matching preamp.

It's probably more than you want to spend, but if you can make the stretch, I'd take a look at the Linar Audio Model 10. It's a five-channel integrated amplifier. I own it and am extremely happy with its performance (check my profile). There's usually one for sale on Audiogon (new in box) and I'll bet you could have it for ~$2900 ($4250 MSRP).
