Hello, I'm a newbie keen SACD lover and use an older Denon 2900 SACD/DVD player through my Demom 3805 amp into B&W 805s. Sounds nice, esp in Direct mode where I can also pick up a LF feed for my subbie!
I'm about to buy a Sony BDPS370 for BluRay and noticed it has SACD output via HDMI.
My Denon has a Denon-link input but no HDMI input.
I am confused as to how I can possibly use these two devices as the Sony will only send BluRay/DVD/CD audio via optical or coax (fine for Denon amp) but HDMI for SACD, which I can't work out.
Is there a cable you can buy for HDMI to Denon-link? And if you could would it work?
I would really appreciate someone more knowledgable than me offering some direction.

Thanks

No, there is no HDMI- DLink conversion possible. Your only hi quality choice is to use analog from player to the 3805. I hope the Sony has analog outs.

The coax or optical alternatives will only send lossy, low rez in Mch, but they can send stereo in thrilling 44K resolution.

This is really sad that Sony leaves off the multichannel analog outs, since only the very most recent products handle HDMI. Preamps, Amps and even well made Receivers are designed to last for decades, because of lack of outputs Sony is making people trash perfectly good products,

I am so glad I prefer 2 channel stereo, there are ALWAYS analog outs, so far. Knock on wood and praying.

Ah, I just re-read your post & see you haven't purchased the Sony yet?

If not, may I recommend an Oppo? They still have multi-channel analog outputs (as well as HDMI) =)
