I tried it now: switching video to 720p either component or HDMI works for me! All 5 SACD channels as DSD. However, the solution will not be completely satisfactory until I buy a new TV. For my old CRT I have to switch back and fort every time I watch a video disc or Internet TV, else I get a B/W picture from video out (it works anyway, might have been worse). I talked to SONY support. They do dot feel as if it was a fault of the device but as if I had very exotic expectations towards my player.

Another thing:
Did anybody notice the following problem: When I play SACD, the built in display does not display the track number! The place after "T" remains empty followed by the current track time. No track number after "T" when playing SACD, with CD or CD-layer of a hybrid SACD everything is fine. After inserting SACD, the total number of track is displayed after "T", followed by the total time. While playing, no track number.

I have a 470, what about 570 or 770?

similar problem withe 760 no track no. displayed

Thanks for that information.

The use of SD video (480i/576i) out via HDMI could be a problem with most players as this is the problem I was having with my Pioneer DV-610. I was feeding SD video to my Denon 2310 with it for it to upscale to 1080p. I tried numerous times to fix it but could only get 2-channel SACD out of it. Never had the problem with new Sony BDP-S770 as it's always been set to 1080p video out.

I have the same "T" problem with SACD on BDP-S770. RBCD are OK as they display correct track information. It's a strange problem.

I've contacted Sony support; their response is that it's designed that way. Use your display device for track information. Quite inconsistent design to say the least.

Another thing missing is Video gamma control which will provide fine tuning of black levels. I've also requested this enhancement be added if possible during that same call to Sony support. My Pioneer DV-610 has this control and I find it quite handy. I miss it in the Sony.

I'm looking into buying Sony's BDP-S370 and hooking it up to a Pioneer VSX-919 receiver which claims to support SACD over HDMI.
Does it mean I will be able to get multi-channel SACD playback over an HDMI connection ?

Would the same work with BDP-S470 & BDP-S570 ?
What is the added value of the S470 vs S370 ?

No idea, I suspect it is additional video and streaming functionality

S570 is a 3D BR player with wireless Network (Wif)
S470 is a 3D BR player
S370 is a 2D Br

So with only $20 price difference between S370 and S570, I guess the S570 is a no brainer choice.

What does the S770 have on top of the S570 ?
