I have no problems with the sonics whatsoever in Mch. In fact, they are quite good. Apparently this is an example of the pitfals of listening to the stereo version of a Mch recording, unless the stereo is carefully remastered. Too bad.

I find this disk a delight in every way: wonderful music, beautifully played and quite a good Mch recording.

Interesting. My initial speculation was that they had added artifical reverb to the stereo mix (gasp!). Now I wonder if they mixed the ambient mics in with the normal stereo pair when thy did this stereo mix. That could explain the disconcerting close-up/far-away perspective that does not sound in any way natural in stereo. If so, I hope they revert back to creating a "normal" stereo mix for future releases in this series. Most other Praga's seem OK to me - in fact are usually excellent recordings in stereo. So, I chalk these Haydn recordings into the "anomoly" category.
