I have 2 copies of Groove Note recordings... Eden Atwood's Ballad Session & Jacintha's Girl From Bosa Nova.

When loaded into the player... it simply says ERROR

Anyone had problems with these recordings?

I've just checked with another SACD player & both disc work on it.

Anyone experienced certain discs not working on their player?

I have the 'Girl From Bossa Nova' and haven't had any trouble with it. The only trouble I have ever had with a Groove Note SACD was a cracking copy of an earlier Jacintha that Groove Note replaced with no trouble....very good service.

In my experience Grove Note offers a high quality product in all ways as far as SACD goes.

I'm having lots of problems with recent discs from Sonopress on my old Marantz SA-14. I had some of the discs checked out by Philips in the Netherlands and, though within specs, they weren't great pressings. Sonopress have received a report as a consequence. There was a suggestion that a different transport would be more tolerant of these discs. I plan to check out the new SA-11S1 to see how it goes with these.

If you're sticking with stereo. . . http://www.classeaudio.com/omega/detail-sacd-2.htm

Only 2/3 the price of the original Omega SACD! A virtual steal!

I had my heart set on a Meitner DCC2 + CDSD but every time I look the price has jumped a few thousand ... now about $20K for the combo? My means are somewhat more humble.

I am beginning to wonder about my SA-14 also. First it was the Starker Bach Suites, in which only one of the two disks could be read. Tower replaced that with a set in which both disks are readable, but the TOC load time is more than double than what it typically takes to load.

Just the other day, Marshall Blonstein sent me a copy of his AF Donovan release (Storyteller), and this one will not load either.

I had asked in another forum thread if any other SA-14 owners had been experiencing such read problems, so I am glad to see by Stephen's post that I am not alone in this.

Perhaps we should start a TOC read problems thread in which members can list the SACD that gave them problems and the type of machine it was that wouldn't read the disk.

Just got my SA-17 back from Marantz. It seems like they've done some updating to the machine & the Groove Note SACDs are working fine now!

I have had problems as well with my Phillips SA763, but I find that if I don't use the text display and go to the track number and time option the problems disappear totally. Something about the text display is causing tracks to not play.
