I agree with you 100%

:-)

Trouble is, the vast majority of people out there, have never heard what you and I have heard. It is sad to think that people could enjoy music so much more.
Our band's rythym bass player is here visiting from Ireland, and he cannot believe my system. Not that my system is great, - not what I'm saying: but that it's such a departure from the way he is enjoying at his home. He's been in front of the system for 3 days and won't move.

Cheers,

I have put in an order for a couple of these from HMV.

Does anyone think that this is the BEST place to put in an advance order for these?
There is every indication that if they are not vaporware, that there will not be enough pressed up to fill the demand. And, - I don't trust HMV after screwing me on the Peter Gabriel SACD.

Is there another online company where I can put in an advanced order with more of an assurance that I'd actually get a copy, if it actually happens?

Well, I ordered mine from Cdbanq. They have cheaper shipping options. They also sell on ebay & have 100% positive feedback.

I ordered The Who and Velvet Underground from JPC today. Quite an investment but I guess if I want such interesting titles in the future I'd better commit.

thank you kindly....

I might just put in a couple of orders, as these will probably be OOP in 3 days after shipping and I can resell the extras for $8768 each, a week later...

Placed an order on cdjapan. Total came out to be $50.88... for one disc. It better be worth it! Now the only thing left to do is wait about 2 months for it to arrive. :]

Just ordered six of these (VU, Aja, Police, The Who, Stones and Liszt). Yep, bloody expensive, but cheap by the standards of some of the second hand pop stuff floating around on Amazon and ebay.

Just paid about $18 for the 2~disc set of Artur Pizarro's Goyescas and Iberia on the Linn Label from Crochet in England (incl. shipping). So stock up on "bargains" like this and splurge on all those guilty pleasures. It all comes out in the wash, anyway. BTW, the Pizarro disc is over 145 minutes of pure bliss and is also multi-channel (and HDCD on the RBCD layer).

Hello,

This isn't aimed directly at you (and I'm in full agreement that these discs are very, to outrageously expensive), but....

I do kind of understand it from the points of....

1. This is Japanese fetishism, like that perfect apple or pear, protected in 4 layers of polystyrene and a steel vault, for the entitled and very wealthy Japanese market.
2. SHM process is marketed, and hyped, to be "oh so much better" and SHM CDs are very expensive too, and they typically go for around $30.
3. They are intended to be "collectors editions" and have that stamped everywhere: this means that they will not be mass produced.
4. I have no evidence of this, but based on the above, and the history of SHM, and Japanese only, (special), pressings; no matter how quickly they sell out of these things, they are not going to be a "foot in the door" for some kind of SACD resurgence, where a groundswell of consumer interest is going to force these into any kind of production that will change the state of SACD or its decline and obscure fetishism.

When the Japanese find a way of coming out with 24K gold SHM~SACDs and they decide to re~master the Rolling Stones "Sticky Fingers" duplicating the original LP "Zipper" cover (also 24K gold) and charge US $1000 each, that won't be considered fetishism but rather audiophile porn.
