(I also just posted this over at SHTV) - I saw this ancient thread but have to ask - are all the ABKCO Stones SACDs only in digi-packs? Until today, all the ones I've found to date have been in the digi-pack, but I just received
Sympathy For The Devil in a regular jewel case, and the insert seems to have been made for the jewel case. The disc itself has the SACD logo - so, question: has anyone heard of any ABKCO SACDs that actually came in the jewel case? I'm fairly certain (I haven't played it yet) that this is a genuine SACD. Thanks.

FOLLOW UP: Well, I just figured this out ... It's definitely an SACD, but a curio.

Alex, my copy of Sympathy For The Devil Remix came in a regular RBCD jewel case, as well, with a genuine hologram cover. The Rolling Stones: Sympathy for the Devil Remix

All other ABKCO Stones SACDs have come in digipaks.

BTW, I exhort all who are Stones' fans to add this SACD to their collection as it really does sound absolutely amazing even though it contains six different remixes of the same song.

Thanks Ralph - this one had me totally stumped. Although, as you probably know, in my dinky Queens apartment, I have no room for a 5.1 system. Still, should be interesting to listen to the other versions on this disc, even if just in stereo. For five dollars, I can't complain ;)

What the hell. I could of swore I had this. Looked in my index, and not there.

Just purchased Amazon via this site, 2 day delivery, $6.54, pretty good for the one song I will listen to.

Thanks to everyone for sharing information. As an SACD newbie, it is much appreciated.

I've been looking in record stores for the digipaks. Today I finally came across one (out of our heads) but I'm not sure if it is an SACD hybrid. It is definitely a digipak and on the back it says "2002 ABKCO Records." It was kind of expensive (at FYE) so I'd be bummed if I opened it and it was just a RBCD. Should I feel confident that I've found one of these elusive SACDs?

Thanks again!

The SACD logo is key. Not only on this, but other discs. On eBay sometimes auctions automatically get listed as SACD, when they are not. Being able to see a picture of the item is very helpful.

Not that all the Stones' albums were reissued on SHM~SACD, but why pay crazy prices for the OOP ABKCO releases when the reissued SHM~SACDs are under $30 brand new and sound exceptional, as well.

/search/Rolling+Stones

I would be wary of ordering the ABKCO Stones via mailorder but if you decide to do so, I would email the vendor upon placing the order and ensure that it is a genuine SACD or else have the order canceled.

Yes - on eBay and on the various Amazon sites, vendors are listing SACDs that are not the genuine article. It wouldn't surprise me if the reverse happens also - although I suspect less often!

The SACD logo should be the key, but if the album/disc doesn't have this present - that makes things difficult. A classic example of this problem is the Moody Blues "In Search of the Lost Chord" album. Nowhere on the digipack, liner notes or disc is the SACD logo present. What also doesn't help is if the seller doesn't have a decent (or any) photos uploaded.

Back on track - yes, this 2rolling Stones" SACD is very good - and great fun. I picked mine up from Amazon UK for just a few GBP. A bargain!
