OK, I've been to Singapore last month, for the first time in over 5 years. The Specialists' Shopping Center was gone indeed. I had not expected they'd already erected a whole new major shopping mall there (plus three others on Orchard Road). Gramophone has not returned there however. The shop near City Hall was still there, and it has an Audiophile section including a decent number of SACDs, mostly jazz and classical. Prices were decent too, I recall. Still a nice little shop with no frills.
'That CD Shop' still exists too (also the one on Scott's) and they even had an Audiophile section with SACDs but many titles did not carry price tags which I find very annoying. Besides, their staff (like the shops) look great but I haven't found any of the ladies very knowledgeable on the products they sell.
Well, isn't Singapore a dynamic place? The Gramophone shop at the Capitol Centre I wrote about has already been vacated (as has the entire Capitol Centre, Capitol Building, Capitol Theatre and Stamford House).
The Orchard Road one has apparently moved to Takashimaya Shopping Center but although the shop as a whole didn't get much smaller, the bargain section did.
There was a somewhat decent 'audiophile' section, as I found in That CD Shop. The photo above is from the branch at Raffles City. The selection was heavily Asia-skewed and consisted of SACDs, SHM-CDs, Blu-spec CDs, XRCDs, K2CDs, LPCDs, etc.
