These are the same recordings that were originally issued on SACD by Philips. Jared, was Channel Classics able to do anything to improve that original SACD release, or are you simply making it available again?

Funny you should ask. Hein Dekker was never happy with the stereo cd layer because these were the pioneering days with double recording sets happening and learning about this business of recording in DSD.
We have indeed together spent a good deal of time going back and improving the stereo layers. I think you would be happy with the results!
Both the Dvorak 7th and 8/9 will be out the 1st of April.
And don't forget we have recorded the 7th on request of you guys! So this is a true forum at work.

Thanks for the reply. I have tickets for Ivan's and the Budapest Festival Orchestra's Beethoven 6th & 9th on Sunday and am looking forward to it. Hamlet at the Met on Saturday, and Ivan on Sunday. Should be a splendid weekend.

I am jealous! We just recorded the 6th last month and am really looking forward to getting this out in the fall! One of my favorite works.

Some guy who calls himself the Flying Dutchman started a thread asking why there were no modern recordings of the 7th in SACD. I responded with a post that linked to your website where you invited comments. I guess some of us said we wanted it. I plan to buy at least 3 copies - one for myself and two for Christmas or birthday presents.

Really looking forward to this one, and thank you!

Bruce

Thank you, Jared. Great news for all lovers of Dvorak. First the 7th next month, then the 6th in fall! BTW, recorded using the Grimm converter?

I think he was referring to the 6th of Beethoven?

The CC website has some neat pictures and stuff of the Beethoven sessions.

By the way, I absolutely feel in my bones that this Dvorak 7 will be the best ever.

Isn't it great that we can all have a feel of participation in this. That's certainly something we never got from any of the Universal, Sony, or EMI labels!
