Hello.

I wanted to introduce myself and share some thoughts. I have been a music fan all of my life. I am a classically trained pianist, dabbled in violin, viola and double-bass, and sang in choirs in church and college. My tastes are eclectic and include classical, jazz, rock, pop, barbershop, and pretty much anything else that tickles my ears.

A little over a year ago, I upgraded to HDTV using an Oppo upconverting DVD player (although I didn't notice that it played SACDs). Then, I bought an AV receiver (Denon 1909) and got some free speakers from my boss. I promptly blew one of the old JBL surrounds and replaced them with Klipsch Synergy B-3 and a new Klipsch c-10 (I am running older Snell mains). Then I decided to go BluRay and bought the Oppo BDP-83. I was intrigued by the SACD ability of the Oppo (I had never even heard of it before) and purchased my first SACD (Spyro Gyra Good to Go-Go).

I was BLOWN AWAY by SACD, and I haven't even let the Denon do the D/A conversion yet!! I realize I am late to the party, but I am now building my SACD collection as money permits.

I do not want SACD to die!!! The Oppo got me into this new world of HD music and I have no plans to leave. If only people just adopted SACD for 5.1 surround using their home theater systems, it MIGHT let Direct Stream Digital not only survive, but expand for those of us that really appreciate it.

Thank you for this nice forum and SACD reviews.

David... I stronly suggest that you may find far more SACD's that you've listed online than at any store. Amazon's outside sellers have many new and used, and I suspect that that's where you're likely to find some of those. Most new SACD releases are classical, and many of the previously released pop and rock discs are out of print. Don't mean to seem negative, but that's just the way it is.

6 billion people.Must print 6 billion copies. With digital DSD Master files, "Out of Print" doesn't make any sense.

I'd suggest mymusic.com. They still have a number of nice SACD's for $7 shipped! Just search for SACD under Title.

Thank you or the suggestions. I have been using Amazon so far. I will try mymusic.com. The titles I have purchased so far have been a combination of shot in the dark, and check the reviews here.

It would be nice to have ELO available ;)

No SACDs at BestBuy, or any other store in the Saint Louis area that I could find.

Other than people saying (I'm sure we have some mixed in with everything else, so come on in and take a look......)

If you would like a superb recording of an innovative interpretation of Vivaldi's Four Seasons, try this one:

Vivaldi: The Four Seasons, Piazzolla - Lara St. John

I thought I was tired of the piece til I heard this! St. John, it seems can do anything she wants to on the violin, and she puts it all at the service of the music, allowing us to see it in a new perspective, through different and unusually perceptive eyes. Purchased via the links on this site from CD Universe this disc costs a mere $13.05 + shipping. Buy 7 discs from CD Universe and the total shipping is a little less than $1.00 per disc.
