I received this last week from Elusive Disc at their revised price of $59.99. This is my first Esoteric SA-CD, and I have to say that it's just a bit disappointing. My expectations were apparently too high for a 1961 recording, but I had hoped that the sound of the upper strings would be smoother (i.e., less edgy) than what is heard on this disc through my system. Overall, though, the Esoteric remastering beautifully conveys the ambience of the Concertgebouw as captured by the Decca recording.

[OOT: My Elusive Disc order also included the Sara K. album "Hell or High Water", which was a far more satisfying listening experience (in MC) in spite of the fact that my musical interests are almost exclusively classical. Perhaps I just wasn't in the mood for Tchaikovsky yesterday.]

Still waiting for mine to be delivered from Symmetry. Promised for last week but it didn't make it yet. It is £29.95 in UK

I have this recording now. As has been pointed out on the thread for the concommitant Sibelius 1 disc this appears to be a 96/24 PCM transcription from the original analogue tapes and not DSD even 'though there is another legend on both stating "DSD Mastering" according to the spline notes of my copy.

I have checked back to the four discs of the first batch and the conversion from analogue sources of two of those discs, Tricorn & Dvorak 9 do not have the 96/24 appellation so presumably they were DSD recorded. They too have the "DSD Mastering" legend on the spline notes.

Please would somebody who already has the Solti Ring set check their copies and advise what format was used for it.
