Of what quality and resolution is the iPod's DAC? I'd imagine 48/24, but they could get away with 48/16 (which is the highest iTunes records at).

Still not absolutely sure, becuse there is not any info on it, but the 4th generation iPods use Wolfson's wm8975 codec. The past versions used in previous iPods sampled up to 96/24, though. But I've noticed that the higher models, closer to 8975, only support up to 48 Khz. Strange...
