She and J. Gordon Holt who "dissed" her first batch of Mercury SACDs are battling it out in Nirvana!

Actually, Cozart had nothing much to do with the SACDs except that the Redbook layer came from her last remasterings that had already been released. The stereo and mch DSD tracks were done by others.

Even though the DSD transfer and 2 channel conversion were done at Emil Berliner Studios, you will find the following dedication in the booklets for the SACDs:

"We would like to thank Wilma Cozart Fine and Bob Eberenz for their advise in the preparation of these SACD transfers"

Bob and Wilma Cozart also receive my gratitude not only for their excellent recordings but also for their three microphone technique adopted by their disciples Jack Renner and Robert Woods at Telarc, later expanded to 4 microphones for Stereo and 7 microphones for multichannel by Michael Bishop, who uses two center microphones instead of one. Without Bob and Wilma I seriously doubt Telarc would ever have existed, at least not in the form that I love. Thank you both and I hope you are making great music in the beyond.

Yes, but never listen to any of their mono or early stereo recordings...they're crap, right Teresa?

Thank you for all the wonderful music, Wilma. Nary a week goes by without one of your recordings being enjoyed in our household.

This all true and acknowledged but not relevant to the point: She did not do the SACD transfers. Our debt, and that of successor producers, is undiminished, nonetheless.

Kal, There was an article in the Absolute Sound that when the first batch of Mercury Living Stereo SACDs came out, They were "panned" by J. Gordon Holt and after that, Wilma would NEVER talk to him again although he did give the second batch the thumbs up but the harm was done.....Even though she was not responsible for the SACD layers, it was guilt by association. I found this amusing, actually, but perhaps there were extenuating circumstances which precluded this riff. They were both audio pioneers and may they both RIP......it's really water under the bridge! And honestly, I'm sure Analogue Productions or Mobile Fidelity could elicit better results from the Mercury catalog if they chose to do so because the latest Blue Note SACDs NEVER sounded this fantastic on any optical media (and verily surpass the initial tick and pop vinyl pressings from the 50's and 60's).
