Hi everyone

Now people are talking about blu-ray audio disc, the musical industry needs a new disc to improve sales, hardware manufactures and software labels.

The new format, could be a three inches blu-ray disc, one layer 120 minutes minimum and two layers 240 minutes, DSD codec mandatory, stereo and /or multichannel, perhaps others codec like DTS HD.

What do you think about this disc?

It will sink like a lead balloon.

The music industry, in general, doesn't need/want yet another physical medium. And neither do the mass market consumers. The genie is out of the bottle....downloads will increasingly take over the marketplace. Sure, there're Blu-ray audio discs, but vast majority of those are aimed at classical music listeners, who comprised of a very small portion of the total market. The music companies will not go experimenting with yet another potential (mass market) failure.

In the BluRay release Sony published a chart where do not appear DSD for BluRay, only LinearPCM and the usual plethora of compressed Codecs.
Regards.

As more and more recording artists break away from their respective record companies and own their own masters, I think we will see a smattering of Blu-ray audio discs...I just listed the Minotaur boxed set wherein the Pixies have remastered their five studio albums for Blu-ray release in 5.1 surround at 24/192 and of course Neil Young's 10 disc blu-ray "Archives." But everything comes at a price and a steep one at that and I agree that 89 cent "crappy" downloads will be the future but even downloads are suffering at this moment.....The blu-ray disc itself is amazing....an ultra-dramatic departure from mediocre video and for once, we have the true marriage of hi-def audio and video and as the price of disc replication diminishes and the installed base of players increases, it's anyone's guess what the future will bring. In terms of storage and versatility, it is a spectacular medium!

Iam happy with SACD for music and DVD-VIDEO for films. And do not want spend any money to change to BluRay or the future Toshiba 500Gigabites disc.

But unlike the DVD-A fiasco (necessitating the use of a video monitor to navigate menus) Once you pop the blu-ray audio disc into the machine it will play instantly. Again, it's not what we at sa-cd want, it's what the public is willing to buy.......after all, the public votes with its pocketbooks and as everyone knows the record companies (or, what's left of them) panders to what sells. As Bissie said, I am willing to supply you with SACDs as long as you are willing to buy them. It all comes down to simple economics.

I want it. In my experience BD's are superior even to sacd. People buy Blu-ray players for their home movie, so why not buy some Blu-ray audios as well since it doesn't require a new player. Try one or two of Lindberg Lyd's discs and hear the difference.

Having just visited the 2L website, Mr. Lindberg has 8 more sacd/blu-ray combo packs on tap through 2010. Considering that Amazon.com sells these combos for $24.98, I consider this one of the best bargains in hi-rez audio and considering that they're all imports from Sweden, are mostly DXD recorded should be a lesson to the outrageous prices being charged by other companies for SACD only discs.

Maybe once there are more than 100 Blu-ray audio titles out, we can talk about the possibilites of a trend.

So far, the format is non-existent.

Why is it a bargain for two discs with the same content? Most buyers only use one of the discs, that's why they can't charge much more than for one disc.
