Yesterdays critical listening of this unique piece of work has proved and revealed the other thing I had not mentioned in the review here. This doubled release 1DVD-A + 2 SA-CD has been compared on on of the best equipment that you can afford in the central EU. AYRE mulitformat player on MARTIN LOGAN CLXpowered by THETA DIGITAL amps.

The first movement contains full dynamics and wide variety of the classical instruments so only the chosen format of the transfer might be faulty with the DVD-A sound. DVD-A sounds terribly cold & crystal clean with overtly bright brass instruments which you can witness in the "march" section of the first mov.

ALSO Tympani are much more natural with SA-CD than that of SCREEKY, SQUELCHY SQUEAKY sound from DVD-A

SA-CD does not sound brings full flavor instead of Artic cold air and too much brigtness. All the strings, woodwinds and esp. brass sound naturally and excelently cut! THIS MACAL's RENDITION IS SLOWLY BECOMING MY MOST FAV of all that I know and surely surpasses even Kubelik's reference recording! I cannot imagine what MAHLER himself would say about CZECH PHIL with MACAL but I can say that he probably would't be disappointed with this performance....
